Following our previous public consultation on the development of a Cork County LECP, Cork County Council is issuing a Draft LECP for public comment. This draft plan will form the basis for the final plan to be adopted by Cork County Council.
The draft plan can be viewed online via this webpage or a paper copy can be ordered from the Planning Policy Unit, Cork County Hall, 021-4285900. The draft plan identifies 30 Key Assets (social and economic) for Cork, as well as a process to manage each of these assets (via inter-agency co-ordination). In managing these assets effectively, the draft plan recommends that Cork County can be a place defined by
a) clarity of purpose,
b) opportunity, and,
c) attractive to live in.

The draft plan has been subjected to a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) and an Appropriate Assessment (AA) screening process. These processes concluded that, having regard to the nature and content of the draft plan, that it was not considered necessary to prepare a Strategic Environmental Assessment or Appropriate Assessment of the LECP. However, future lower level plans for individual Key Assets will also be required to undertake SEA and AA screening.
